Doctape Multi-Format File Viewer Goes Universal With Native iPad Support

October 7, 2013
Doctape Viewer has just received a major update that includes, most notably, universal support. Released on iOS just last August, Doctape Viewer is an app that lets you access files from various sources and of various types on your iDevice. The app supports importing files from the following sources: camera, photo library, Dropbox, Facebook, Gmail, Box, Github, Google Drive, Instagram, Flickr, Picasa, SkyDrive, and iTunes (USB or Wi-Fi). And here are some of the file types supported by Doctape Viewer:
  • Adobe PDF files (PDF)
  • Microsoft Office files (Word DOC/DOCX, Excel XLS/XLSX, Powerpoint PPT/PPTM/PPTX)
  • Libre Office & Open Office files (ODT, ODT, SXW, STW)
  • WordPerfect files (WPD)
  • Text-files (RTF, TXT, CSV)
  • Audio files (MP3, M4A, AACF, AIFF, WAV, ALAC)
  • Video files (MP4, MOV, MPV, M4V, 3GP)
  • Image & vector files (JPG, PNG, TIF, BMP, AI, NEF, ARF)
  • Adobe Photoshop files (PSD)
  • Adobe Illustrator files (AI)
  • RAW image files (NEF, CR2, ERF, ARW, SR2)
  • Vector image files (EPS, PS)
  • Winmail.dat files (TNEF)
Doctape Viewer was launched on iOS as an app initially optimized for iPhone and iPod touch. But now, thanks to its latest update, Doctape Viewer has been optimized for iPad as well. The new update also adds passcode lock support. Note, though, that this new feature is included in Doctape Viewer's pro package. Available via a $3.99 in-app purchase, the pro package unlocks the following features, in addition to passcode lock support: unlimited ad-hoc conversion for file types not supported by iOS, unlimited file import, and full-text search for documents. The new version of Doctape Viewer is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later. The newly updated app also introduces a new feedback forum section for feature requests and adds German translation support. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
