Instacast Gains Apple A7 64-Bit Processor Support And Other Enhancements

October 8, 2013
The popular podcast client Instacast has just been updated to version 4.1, just three weeks after its huge 4.0 update. Released on the same day as the official launch of iOS 7, Instacast 4.0 introduced a new interface inspired, of course, by the new operating system. It also added a number of enhancements, including support for Background App Refresh. "While there are a few quirks with Instacast 4 that I’m not particularly fond of, I am still pleased with the update overall," Daniel notes in conclusion of his review of Instacast 4. "I’m so glad that all of my favorite apps are being updated for iOS 7 so quickly, and Instacast 4 is not an exception." Now, Instacast 4.1 is here with another round of enhancements, most notable of which is support for Apple's new A7 64-bit processor, which is built into the iPhone 5s. The latest update to Instacast also adds support for background fetching in case push notifications fail. Moreover, it brings the following improvements:
  • Added option to disable continuous playback of 'Up Next'
  • Improved user interface slightly
  • Improved syncing
  • Fixed cancel downloading when leaving wifi area
  • Fixed not backing up media files to iCloud
  • Improved localization
  • Fixed crash when importing single episodes
Instacast 4.1 is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $4.99 download. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later. Instacast is listed as a "notable app" in AppAdvice's Podcast Apps AppGuide. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
