Line App Increases Voice Message Duration, Rejects Messages From Non-Friends

October 5, 2013
Line, the top-grossing messaging app developed by Naver Japan, has received yet another notable update. This new update comes just over a week after the app's last major update. That update added several new features, including a Snap Movie function, group albums, and, most importantly, voice calling. It also brought an improved Home section to enable privacy settings for individual posts and a function to delete users from the Blocked Users and Hidden Users lists. Now, the latest update to Line follows up on those features and improvements. For one thing, it increases the maximum duration of voice messages all the way to 30 minutes, enabling you to, you know, deliver a life-changing speech or narrate a rip-roaring novella on Line. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. The new update also lets you say goodbye to Line spam as it adds a setting that prevents users who are not your friends from sending you messages. Just enable the Filter Messages option in the app's privacy settings section to reject messages from non-friends. Finally, the update adds support for Background App Refresh on iOS 7, enabling Line to update with new received messages in the background. Also including minor bug fixes, the new version of Line is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 4.3 or later.
