Typographic iOS Puzzle Platformer Type:Rider Coasts Into The App Store
October 10, 2013
Last weekend, I told you about the puzzle platformer Type:Rider, which was due for release on Thursday, Oct. 10. Well, that day has arrived, and so has Type:Rider in the App Store.
Published by BulkyPix and developed by Ex Nihilo in collaboration with Arte, Type:Rider is a unique adventure puzzle game that invites you to take a trip down typography's history lane:
Play as 2 dots and travel through the ages of typographic styles and techniques. From the rock paintings of prehistoric times to Pixel art of the 2000’s, solve all the riddles by riding the most popular fonts and characters (Garamond, Helvetica, Times New Roman, Pixel, Comic Sans...) in a very captivating musical and visual environment.Type:Rider features 10 worlds that reflect key periods in the history of typography, showing historical archives and explanatory text as you go along your way. It also features original music that adds to the game's absorbing atmosphere. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. We'll have a full review of the game later here on AppAdvice. But you can download Type:Rider now in the App Store for $2.99. The game is compatible with iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, fifth-generation iPod touch, iPad 2, third-generation iPad, fourth-generation iPad, and iPad mini. As mentioned, Type:Rider features a couple of dots as its game characters, so to speak. As it happens, there's another iOS game released today that challenges you to control two dots. That other game is the Pivvot-esque Duet Game, which has you moving a couple of diametrically opposite dots or “vessels” so that neither of them bumps into any obstacle along their way.
