Yahoo Celebrates Yahoo Mail's Sweet 16, Offers New Features And 1TB Of Free Storage

October 8, 2013
Yahoo has just significantly revamped Yahoo Mail (note the dropped exclamation point) for a more elegant and intuitive experience on desktop and mobile, including, of course, iOS. In line with this, Yahoo Mail for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad has just been updated to version 2.0 with a couple of notable features introduced in the new Yahoo! Mail experience. First off, the Yahoo! Mail app for iOS now supports conversations. This means that you can now optionally view related messages grouped together in threads and read them in better context. Second, the app has gained support for themes. As a result, you can now customize the look of the app by selecting from a total of 35 themes, including plain colors and visually rich background images based on curated Flickr photos. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. These new features are actually introduced on the occasion of the 16th birthday of Yahoo Mail. And according to Yahoo:
Since it’s not a birthday without party favors, we’re making many features previously reserved for premium Mail Plus customers free. Disposable email addresses, enhanced filters and automatic message forwarding are now available for everyone. And if that wasn’t enough, we’re giving you a monstrous amount of storage, 1TB (that’s 1,000 GBs), so you have ample space for all your emails and attachments. It sure beats one of those annoying noisemakers.
Yahoo Mail 2.0 is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later. The newly updated app also notably includes some iOS 7-inspired interface tweaks.
