Apple Updates AirPort Utility App With Support For 64-Bit A7 Processor

November 5, 2013
Earlier today, Apple finally released the latest version of Remote, which features a new iOS 7-inspired design and support for iTunes 11.1. In addition to that, the company has issued an update to AirPort Utility. Released in October 2011, AirPort Utility is an app that lets you manage Apple 802.11n and 802.11ac Wi-Fi base stations, including AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Time Capsule, right from your iOS device. AirPort Utility was previously updated on the same day as the official launch of iOS 7, with, unsurprisingly, a new interface based on the visual design of the operating system. Now, the app has been updated with 64-bit support, meaning it's now optimized to work with the A7 processor found in the iPhone 5s, iPad Air, and the yet to be released iPad mini with Retina display. To what markedly advantageous purpose is unclear, though. In any case, the new version of AirPort Utility is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later. Here's hoping that Apple updates its seemingly unattended iOS apps, including iBooks, Find My Friends, and iTunes U, for iOS 7 next. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
