DirecTV Expands Live TV Channel Lineup, Activates Remote Control On iPhone

DirecTV for iPhone and DirecTV App for iPad have both just been updated with significant enhancements.
As a result, both of these official iOS apps of the well-known direct broadcast satellite service provider now offer streaming of up to 100 live in-home channels and 30 out-of-home channels through DirectTV Everywhere. These channels include HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, TMC, Starz, and Encore.
The latest update to DirecTV for iPhone also brings what is said the be the most requested feature for the app: remote control capability.
So, now you can use your iPhone (which you're always holding anyway while watching TV) to control your receiver. Simply tap on your iPhone to tune in to any show, and use the app to view, play, and delete items on your playlist. Note, though, that your iPhone must be on the same Wi-Fi network as your receiver for its remote functions to work.
As for DirecTV App for iPad, it has also been updated with a couple of additional improvements. One, it now warns you of conflicts if you set your DVR on your home network. And two, it now has enhanced multitasking for longer retention and faster connection of the remote with your receiver.
The new versions of DirecTV for iPhone and DirecTV App for iPad are available now in the App Store for free.
