Global Video-Streaming App Viki Updated To Version 3.0 With iOS 7 Redesign And More
December 24, 2013
Viki, the global video-streaming app that's been dubbed as "Hulu for the rest of the world," has just gone 3.0 for iOS 7.
Named after a portmanteau of “video” and “wiki,” Viki provides streaming of international TV shows, movies, music videos, and other content subtitled in more than 150 languages by a community of fans.
Released back in July 2011, Viki has just been updated to version 3.0 with a cleaner and flatter interface inspired, of course, by iOS 7.
In addition, Viki 3.0 features a new video player with more controls, including those for changing subtitles, toggling timed comments, changing the resolution, and watching recommended videos.

It also features My Activities and My Favorites in the profile page, and more video recommendations including trending videos, related clips, and staff favorites.
Finally, Viki 3.0 introduces the episode slider, which makes for easier browsing through episodes.
Viki 3.0 is available now in the App Store for free. It's compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later.
Viki was acquired last September by Rakuten, the Japanese Internet company that bought the Canadian e-reader company Kobo and invested millions in the popular photo-sharing service Pinterest last year.
