Pelican's ProGear Vault Cases Offer Extreme Protection For Apple's New iPads
Pelican has launched a couple of new cases for Apple's iPads. Called ProGear Vault, the cases offer extreme levels of protection for the iPad Air, the first-generation iPad mini, and the second-generation iPad mini with Retina display; prices for the cases start at $79.95, and they can be ordered online now.
There are two ProGear Vault cases an offer: one fits the 9.7-inch iPad Air, and the other promises to fit both iterations of Apple's iPad mini. Each is shock absorbent, and provides “a protective seal against water and dust.” But be warned, because though ProGear is indeed “water resistant,” it's not waterproof, so there'll be no taking a ProGear Vault-equipped iPad in the bath with you (for that, you'll need one of LifeProof's forthcoming offerings).
That being said, however, there are nevertheless a lot of positives to ProGear Vault. Unlike competing cases, for example, it features a Smart Cover-like cover, allowing users to both protect their iPad's screen and to prop the tablet upright, too. The case is also guaranteed by Pelican “for life.”
Pelican explains online: “Defend your new iPad Air with genuine Pelican built toughness. With its versatile cover, the new Pelican ProGear Vault case protects your device in a variety of ways. Closed, it prevents impact to the screen. Open, the Vault provides the freedom of cover-free use, an impact absorbing case and a protective seal against water and dust. By fully rotating the cover, the case provides multiple viewing angles to comfortably use your tablet on any surface.”
Features of ProGear Vault include:
- Exclusive Pelican ProGear™ Vault cover with rubber edge seal
- Rated IP54 for water resistance and momentary immersion
- Elastomeric Copolymer rubber interior absorbs impact forces
- Meets Military Specifications Test Standards (MIL-STD 810G)
- Optical Dragontrail™ glass on rear camera area
- Guaranteed for life
Though both cases are listed as “coming soon,” Pelican's ProGear Vault for the iPad Air and iPad mini can be purchased online for $99.95 and $79.95, respectively. For more information, be sure to take a look at the below video, which shows off the protection offered by each of the cases.
