Going by its title alone, "How to Train Your Dragon," the rather heartwarming action adventure 3-D computer-animated film released by DreamWorks Animation in 2010, lends itself well to RPG adaptations. And now, it's indeed been adapted into a role-playing game. Specifically, it's been used as the basis of a massively multiplayer online role-playing game called School of Dragons. Now available for iPad, School of Dragons lets you engage in 3-D MMORPG action set in the fantastic world of "How to Train Your World," featuring Toothless, Hiccup, and your other favorite dragons and Vikings. But School of Dragons is not your usual MMORPG in that it's decidedly educational. Its gameplay revolves around life, earth and physical sciences. In fact, it's said to be one of the first games to be rooted in the Next Generation Science Standards. The game, for example, lets you learn to fly your dragon, practice fireball shooting, take up farming, and take part in fishing. And with School of Dragons, you can:
School of Dragons is available now in the App Store for free. The game is compatible with iPad running iOS 5.0 or later. The sequel to "How to Train Your Dragon," the creatively titled "How to Train Your Dragon 2," is scheduled to hit theaters in June 2014.
