Vimeo Brings Search Back To iPad App, Adds Tap-And-Hold Support For Video Options
January 1, 2014
Vimeo, the official iOS app of the popular video-sharing website of the same name, has been updated once again in order to restore a significant feature.
On the same day as the launch of iOS 7 last September, the Vimeo app was updated with a revamped interface. Also, it was updated with featured video thumbnails, AirDrop support, and instant video playback (even when offline) for the most recent videos in the Watch Later and My Videos sections.
But amid all the new stuff, there was a glaring omission: the absence of search. Apparently, search was left out by the folks at Vimeo in their rush to ship the iOS 7 revision of the app in time with the release of iOS 7.
Fortunately, search was added back initially to the iPhone edition of Vimeo in October. And now, it has made its comeback in the app's iPad edition through its latest update. As in Vimeo for iPhone, just pull down on the home screen to reveal the search bar and, as the Vimeo team puts it, "find all the vids your heart desires."
The latest update to Vimeo also lets you tap and hold video thumbnails to like, watch later, share, or download.
The new version of Vimeo is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later.
