Check Out What's Inside This Newly Released News Summarization App For iOS
January 29, 2014
More often than not, given the hustle and bustle of everyday life, catching up on the latest news may not be as easy as it sounds. Fortunately, a certain subcategory of news apps is at your disposal, a group that now includes a notable new addition in the form of Inside for iOS.
Inside is a new app that offers a stream of the most important and interesting stories of the day summarized in short updates. But as opposed to the largely algorithmic approach of most other news summarization apps, including Yahoo News Digest and Gist, the summarized updates provided by Inside are given by its team of curators:
Every day a team of curators find the 1,000 most important and fascinating stories in the world and the journalists who did the best job telling those stories. They write a 300-character “update” on the story and link directly to the source. These updates have a short “embedded headline,” generally contain 10 facts and are categorized in up to three topics.Inside lets you vote any update up or down to customize the app's "/myfeed" feed, where you can see stories that are likely to be of most interest to you. You can also see all updates in the "/allupdates" feed and the 25 featured stories of the day in the "/topnews" feed. Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 7.0 or later, Inside is available now in the App Store for free. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
