Flipboard Gets Updated On iOS, Rolls Out Revamped Cover Stories Experience
January 30, 2014
Flipboard for iOS has just received a small update, which is said to introduce a couple of new features.
The new version of the popular social magazine app now includes an option to "flip" to a magazine an article whose URL has been copied in your device's clipboard. Say you're browsing in Safari and you stumble upon an interesting article you'd like to add to any of your Flipboard magazines. Now, you can just copy the link, open Flipboard, and tap the option at the top of the screen to add the article.
According to its release notes, the latest update to the app also lets you "add bookmarks to your Safari Reading List as you browse articles in Flipboard." However, I can't seem to find this new option in Flipboard's sharing pane.
Anyway, the new version of Flipboard, which also includes bug fixes and performance improvements, is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later.
Flipboard is also set to gain some notable tweaks for its Cover Stories feature in the coming days:
Start by flipping through your Cover Stories. Notice how story groups are indicated at the top of each page. Try tapping on the blue “More…” link at the bottom of the page to jump to a full feed. Your Cover Stories will learn how you use Flipboard; over time, it’ll feature content from the sections you pay most attention to more prominently, and you can always mute people in your Cover Stories. Here’s a preview of the revamped Cover Stories experience in Flipboard, which is being rolled out gradually: If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here.
