Year over year, messaging, or communication apps saw the most growth at 203 percent. These included social and photo-sharing apps. This was followed by utilities and productivity apps, which recorded an increase of 149 percent. Gaming, which many feared would reach saturation levels in 2013, posted a 66 percent year over year growth in use.
