The App Store takes delivery of hundreds of new apps per day. The overwhelming scene makes it possible to easily overlook an exciting game, valuable productivity suite, etc. However, we have a solution. Today’s Best Apps tackles this problem by providing you with a handpicked and tested list of apps that are truly worth your consideration each and everyday.
Remember: Even though in-app purchases typically require your iTunes Store password for processing, you can further prevent them and other unauthorized actions by enabling local restrictions using the passcode locked iOS parental controls
Lost Yeti by Gionathan Pesaresi ($0.99, 14.0 MB): Help Yeti reach his home in this challenging and quirky sliding puzzle. The "mountain man" has unfortunately gotten stuck behind blocks of ice and snow and it's up to you to clear the path by strategically sliding the rows and columns of cubes. Because the ape-like animal automatically walks and there will eventually be enemy creatures to avoid, you must not only plan wisely but also execute quickly and efficiently as the secondary goal is getting Yeti to the destination in the least amount of steps. The game features hand-drawn 2.5-D graphics, classic arcade-inspired chiptunes, crazily fun characters, 60 stages spanning three increasing difficult worlds, and a Game Center leaderboard.
Khumba The Game by Triggerfish Studios ($3.99, 96.7 MB): Celebrate the DVD release of Triggerfish's adorable animated South Africa-based action-adventure movie by diving into this charming and family-friendly platformer. The zebras' waterhole has nearly dried up and the herd feels the half-striped newborn, Khumba, is to blame. To save his friends and family as well as, hopefully, gain his full stripes, the young zebra sets out across the Karoo desert in search of a mythical, magical waterhole. In the game, you take control of Khumba and set out across the mostly barren land, collecting water drops and health while overcoming many dangers, such plenty of thorny bushes, stalagmites, and mild predators on your way to face the fearsome leopard, Phango. Be sure to keep an eye out for the many secret caverns and the letters to spell Khumba. The game features 3-D graphics, calm African-style soundtrack, dozens of stages spanning five mysterious and wonderful locations, plus dual-thumb controls.
NOTE: During testing, I experienced what seems to be a score logging glitch, although, it didn't appear to affect completion progress.
