Add Some Urban Decay To Your Photos With The Updated Tangent, Plus A Chance To Win

February 6, 2014

Have you had a creative itch to do something with your photos that isn’t the standard when it comes to photo editing apps? Then Tangent would be perfect and right up your alley right now, because it’s a photo app that adds some designer flair to your images.

I reviewed the app a while back, but I loved it because it featured a simplistic interface that was intuitive, and it provided plenty of fresh designs and perspectives that you could add to your photographs. Photographers can select the shape, pattern, and color, and watch as the image turns into something completely new. There were also customizable templates and presets available if you needed a bit of inspirational help.

The results that you could end up with in Tangent were really quite awe-inspiring. It was incredibly unique when it first came out, and now it has gotten even better thanks to the brand new 1.5 update today.

In version 1.5, Tangent now has a new Urban Decay pack with 20 more “environmental” patterns to overlay on top of your image, creating a dramatic and artsy effect. These new patterns should help photographers and creatives make their unique images stand out even further, thanks to the distressed mood and feel these patterns offer.

But the update does not just include some brand new patterns, there is much more to it than that. Tangent now features a new, inline menu system that will make the entire process of selecting your favorite shapes and patterns easier than ever before. There is also the ability to collapse the shape and pattern packs so you can view more of them without having to go through a bunch of submenus. These will be color-coded to make them easily recognizable and you can expand and collapse as necessary.

Most importantly, there is now an auto-save feature. This means Tangent will save the last edit when users are multitasking between apps, so it’s easy to pick up where you last left off.

Of course, Tangent 1.5 will also have improved support for hi-res photos, a better store for in-app purchases, a “Buy All” option, and general stability improvements.

We’ve enjoyed using Tangent for adding some patterned and textured flair to our photos when the mood strikes, so we are happy to see all of these new additions in the latest update. Existing users can grab the update for free in the App Store, and new customers can find Tangent for $1.99 in the App Store.
