Jailbreak-Free GBA Emulator For iOS Goes 2.0 With New Design, iPad Support And More

February 20, 2014

GBA4iOS, the popular jailbreak-free Game Boy Advance (GBA) emulator for iOS, has just been updated to version 2.0 with a number of significant new features.

First off, GBA4iOS 2.0 introduces a new design for iOS 7 along with full optimization for iPad in addition to iPhone. It also adds support for iOS 7 game controllers.

The update also adds a built-in Web browser and Dropbox syncing for easy downloading of games.

But perhaps most interesting to iDevice-wielding retro gamers is GBA4iOS 2.0's compatibility with games designed for the GBA's predecessors, the Game Boy and the Game Boy Color. So, you need not use a separate emulator to play Game Boy and Game Boy Color games on your iOS device. You now have GBA4iOS 2.0 as the One Emulator to play them all.

Another new addition of note in GBA4iOS 2.0 is support for unlimited controller skins, which may be downloaded in-app or from third-party skin sites like GBA4iOSkins.com.

Moreover, GBA4iOS 2.0 boasts full support for cheats and distribution of events, which unlock certain features that are not normally found in the games being played.

GBA4iOS 2.0 is available to download for free to your iPhone or iPad directly from the emulator's official website.

Before installing the software, remember to set your device's date to no later than Feb. 18, 2014. This is required on account of Apple's revocation of the enterprise certificate used by GBA4iOS. You may change the date back to the correct setting after installation.
