Look, Ma, No PINs! BBM For iOS Now Lets You Easily Find Friends To Chat With
February 6, 2014
BlackBerry has just updated BBM for iOS with a new feature that lets you easily find and invite friends to chat with on the popular messaging app.
"We know how important it is for you to connect with your closest friends, family and colleagues," BlackBerry notes. "With this update, we’ve made it easier to find and invite them quickly and easily. You’re always in control of your contact lists."
And this is thanks to BBM's aptly named Find Friends feature, which lets you find people you know who are also using BBM and invite those who aren't yet.
After giving it access to your device's address book, Find Friends detects who among your contacts are already using BBM and allows you to quickly invite them to join your BBM contact list. As for those who are not yet on BBM, Find Friends lets you invite them to download the app via email or text. No need to manually copy your BBM PIN.
The new, Find Friends-enabled version of BBM is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later.

As announced by BlackBerry last December, more notable features are yet to come to BBM. These include BBM Voice, BBM Channels, faster sharing of photos, faster sending of voice notes, temporary location sharing in chats, and new emoticons. Currently in beta testing, these features are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
