Weather Undergound Unveils WunderMap 3.0 With iPhone Support And iOS 7 Redesign
Weather Underground has just released another update to one of its official iOS apps on iOS.
Just a week ago, the popular online weather forecasting service provider updated its namesake iPhone app with home screen customization, forecast sharing, and 64-bit support. Now, it has updated its interactive weather and radar map app, WunderMap, to version 3.0 with a number of significant enhancements.
According to its release notes, WunderMap 3.0 features the following:
- Full-screen map view (just swipe up on the top bar!)
- Completely redesigned current conditions, forecast, and alerts display
- Combined layer groups and layers into one much simpler interface for choosing what you want to see on your WunderMap
- Share your weather with your mom
- Beautiful new app icon
- Greatly improved performance and memory usage
As it turns out, though, there's more to WunderMap 3.0 than what its release notes initially suggest.
First and foremost, WunderMap 3.0 brings universal support. Previously, WunderMap was compatible with iPad and iPad mini only. But now, it has been made compatible with iPhone and iPod touch as well. Perhaps its inclusion in AppAdvice's Best iPhone Weather Apps AppGuide is in order, seeing as it's already included in AppAdvice's Best iPad Weather Apps AppGuide.
Along with universal support, WunderMap 3.0 features a new and simplified interface for iOS 7. It also brings faster loading, improved favoriting, and enhanced webcam support, enabling you to view webcam feeds at their full native resolution and allowing you to filter out traffic cams.
