Apple May Pull The iPhone 5c, But Not Its Design

March 11, 2014
Apple is likely to dump the iPhone 5c and the mid-price point that goes with it. This doesn’t, however, mean Cupertino is giving up on the handset’s design. Japanese blog Macotakara is reporting that Apple’s upcoming iPhone lineup will take its visual cues from the iPhone 5c and seventh-generation iPod nano. As such, the new handsets are expected to have similar button shapes for volume and mute as the iPhone 5c, and the same rounded black edges. The holes for the speaker and microphone on the bottom of the handset will also look similar to those on the iPhone 5c. The report also says Apple plans on introducing two new iPhones: a 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch display model. The iPhone 5c and iPod nano each come in multiple colors, but that is where the similarities end. While the former is made of plastic, the latter comes with an anodized aluminum body. Apple is expected to launch new iPhones later this year.
