The updated version of the iTunes Festival app has arrived in the App Store.
Version 5.0 of the app features a refreshed design ahead of next week’s event in Austin, Texas.
Officially announced last month, the iTunes Festival will run March 11-15, concurrently with SXSW. Some of the featured performers include Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Keith Urban, and Pitbull.
The app offers a bio of all the participating artists and links to download some of their latest hits from iTunes. It is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini and is a free download on the App Store.
Earlier this week, Daring Fireball’s John Gruber reported that iOS 7.1 would ship “any day now” because the iTunes Festival app required it. But that’s definitely not the case as the release notes state it just requires iOS 7.0.
During the festival, all five nights of performances can be viewed for free through the app and through iTunes on a Mac or PC. Apple TV users should also be able to take advantage of a special channel to see all of the action.
We’ll keep you up to date if we hear anything more regarding when iOS 7.1 will finally be released.
