Viral Strategy Game Plague Inc. Set To Contract Mega Mutation Update Next Month

The "viral" strategy game Plague Inc. is set to undergo a "Mega Mutation." Released to great acclaim in May 2012, Plague Inc. received its last major update last November, thereby gaining Scenarios and challenging players to develop new strategies based on real and fictional events. Next up, according to Touch Arcade, the game is going to receive its Mega Mutation update, which introduces a Mega Brutal difficulty level. So, "if you crave an even greater challenge," the site notes, "then Mega Brutal should be your cup of tea as it will include things like 'random medical checks, genetic drift and research tech improvements.'" If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. Beating the game on Mega Brutal difficulty lets you unlock three new Cheat modes, which you can combine and use with any plague type. In addition to the new difficulty level and the new Cheat modes, the upcoming update is set to add four new Scenarios. The Mega Mutation update is scheduled to hit Plague Inc. sometime next month. Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.3 or later, Plague Inc. is available in the App Store for $0.99. Last month, Plague Inc. evolved from mobile to PC with the release of Plague Inc. Evolved.
