What Does The Fox Say? Popular Secret App Gains Nearby And Sharing Features
March 8, 2014
Secret, the popular app that lets you "speak freely" and share secrets anonymously, has just received a major update that introduces a pair of new features.
"Whether you’re reading secrets from your friends or someone at the same event, we believe that knowing how you’re connected to the author of a post is a big part of what makes Secret fun and different," the Secret notes in a new blog post. "We hope these new features will help you discover more of the innermost thoughts of your friends and those close to you."
First off, the latest update to Secret introduces a new Nearby feature. This lets you discover popular secrets shared by users in your immediate area. To enable this feature, you must first allow Secret to access your location and tap the "Turn on Nearby" option in the app's settings.
The other feature brought by the update is support for sharing secrets via other social media channels. No more screen-capping of secrets: from now on, you can readily share secrets by swiping left, tapping the Share option, and choosing Facebook, Twitter, email, or text.
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 7.0 or later, Secret is free to download in the App Store. Note that it's currently available in the U.S. and Canada only.
Secret was released just a little over a month ago. It was previously updated a couple of weeks ago, thereby allowing users to unlink themselves from their posts and to subscribe to or unsubscribe from secrets.
