Yahoo Launches Games Network For Devs And New Classic Games Site For Players

March 20, 2014
Yahoo has just launched the Yahoo Games Network and the new Yahoo Classic Games. The former is a new distribution platform for game developers, while the latter is a revamped site for players to enjoy the Internet company's classic gaming titles. Arriving 10 months after Yahoo acquired the gaming infrastructure startup PlayerScale, the Yahoo Games Network allows third-party developers to make their games available across Yahoo's network, which boasts 800 million users worldwide (including 400 million mobile gamers). The new distribution platform offers onboarding services including player authentication, game monetization, social sharing, and analytics. In a new blog post, Yahoo notes:
The new Yahoo Games Network bring the classics that we all know and love — like Yahoo Poker, Yahoo Pool, and Yahoo Bingo — in addition to other hits like KingsRoad, The Last Stand: Deadzone, Ballistic, Bingo Blingo, Rise of Mythos, Vegas World and Slotomania. We’re already working with some of the best developers in the industry like Rumble Entertainment, DreamWorks, SGN, ChangYou, Namco Bandai America, Playtika, FlowPlay, Con Artist Games and many more on web and mobile.
As for the revamped Yahoo Classic Games, it features a new and improved design that works "seamlessly" on the Web, Android, and, of course, iOS. As of last month, the iOS editions of Yahoo Poker, Yahoo Pool, and Yahoo Bingo are available in the App Store for free.
