Apple Pushes For 'Continuity' Between Mac And iOS With AirDrop And Handoff Features

June 2, 2014
Apple wants you to "use the right device for the moment." And so with its just-announced OS X Yosemite, Apple is pushing what it calls "Continuity." First off, this Continuity includes the ability of AirDrop to now work between iOS and Mac. There's also something called Handoff. With this new feature, when Mac and iOS recognize each other, you're able to simply swipe or click to "hand off" your document or whatever you're working on to the other device. Proximity awareness is now also built into Mac thanks to Yosemite. As a result, your Mac can automatically detect your iPhone nearby and set up a hotspot. No setup required. It just works. Apple's idea of Continuity also involves seamless operations of text messages and phone calls between iOS and Mac. Stay tuned to AppAdvice for more of Apple’s announcements from WWDC 2014.
