International Price Drops Suggest New Apple TV And Mac mini Models Are Coming
June 18, 2014
Earlier today, Apple unveiled a less expensive iMac. Now, the Cupertino, California-based company has dropped the price on the Mac mini and Apple TV. In parts of Europe, at least.
The Apple TV is now available in most European stores for €99/£79. This reduces the price by €10/£20. In the United States, the Apple TV remains $99.
The Mac mini has now seen a price drop of between €30 and €60, depending on the country and model. Most are now offering the entry-level model for €619, with the quad-core and OS X server models selling for €819 and €1019, respectively. In Germany, Apple has introduced slightly lower pricing of €599/€799/€999.
In the United Kingdom, the entry-level Mac mini remains £499, though the quad-core and server models have seen price drops of between €30 and €50.
Also in the U.K., Apple has lowered the price of existing 21.5-inch iMac models by £100, while the 27-inch models are seeing similar reductions of £150. These reductions are currently only available in the U.K.
These pricing moves suggest Apple is planning hardware upgrades for both the Apple TV and Mac mini. These devices were last updated in March 2012 and October 2012, respectively.
