Looking Good: The Weather Channel App For iPad Goes 4.0 With iOS 7 Redesign

June 26, 2014
A couple of months ago, the official iPhone app of The Weather Channel was updated to version 6.0 with a brand new design for iOS 7. Now, it's the iPad app's turn to get the iOS 7 design treatment. The Weather Channel App for iPad has just been updated to version 4.0 with a new design that the eponymous weather data provider describes as being "closely aligned to the iOS 7 aesthetic." Indeed, the app's new design looks and feels right at home on iOS 7, notably with its flat interface and simple bottom menu (offering access to the app's Weather, Radar, News, Video, and Health sections). The Weather Channel App for iPad 4.0 also features beautiful background photos that match the current weather conditions. Interestingly, the use of gorgeous background photos corresponding to the current weather was supposedly pioneered in the Yahoo Weather app by Yahoo โ€” the very same company that The Weather Channel has booted out as Apple's visible weather data provider in iOS 8. Compatible with iPad running iOS 6.0 or later, The Weather Channel App for iPad 4.0 is available now on the App Store for free. The Weather Channel App for iPad is featured as a "notable app" in AppAdvice's Best iPad Weather Apps AppGuide.
