T-Mobile Touts Promising Numbers For Its Free iPhone Test Drive
June 20, 2014
On Wednesday, T-Mobile announced Test Drive, which allows customers to try an iPhone 5s for free on the T-Mobile network. On Friday, the company announced that more than 12,000 people have already signed up to “start cheating on their carrier."
In making the announcement, CEO John Legere notes:
The way we buy wireless in this country is patently absurd. So we’re changing it. With T-Mobile Test Drive, you can take our data-strong network for a spin for seven days on Apple’s latest, greatest iPhone – the iPhone 5s. There’s no cost. No hidden fees. No obligation. And no more buying blind. I want you to know our network will work for you and your family – at home, at work, at school and everywhere in between –before you make a decision. I want you to experience our kick-ass network for yourself. As we previously reported, beginning Monday, June 23, you can sign up for T-Mobile Test Drive at T-Mobile.com/testdrive. A few days later, you’ll receive a unit of Apple’s flagship smartphone that you can use to take T-Mobile’s network for a seven-day data-intensive spin for absolutely free. After the test drive, you just need to return the test unit at any T-Mobile store. The program is being likened by T-Mobile to an act of infidelity. “You (can) have a 7-night stand,” Legere said in an interview with Re/code just ahead of the company’s “Un-carrier 5.0″ event in Seattle. “You cheat on your carrier and it’s free.” Ready for your iPhone 5s test drive?
