A New Video Shows A Flexible 'iPhone 6' Display

July 7, 2014
Technology blogger Sonny Dickson has posted a video that appears to show an “iPhone 6” front panel being subjected to a bending stress test. The video includes a comparison to the iPhone 5s. Dickson’s video includes the word “sapphire” in the title. This suggests that the material being tested features a sapphire glass display. However, that isn’t confirmed in the video. Take a look: http://youtu.be/rkcXv9kWsTY The latest batch of rumors suggest the possible 5.5-inch iPhone 6 will include a sapphire glass display, while the 4.7-inch model will use Corning’s Gorilla Glass. This is the material found on recent Apple handset models, including the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. There is some disagreement whether sapphire glass is better than Gorilla Glass. The former has been called more durable and scratch resistant. The latter is considered better resistant to breakage and more environmentally friendly. We should find out more about Apple's 2014 iPhone lineup very soon. An announcement is likely before the end of September.
