Cydia tweak: BetterWiFi7 brings enhanced Wi-Fi options to iOS devices

July 26, 2014

BetterWiFi7, a new jailbreak tweak that’s available now on the Cydia Store, adds more advanced Wi-Fi management features to jailbroken iOS devices.

You can pick up the package for $1.50, and as its name suggests, BetterWiFi7 is optimized for iOS 7-powered devices. Once installed, a new preferences pane appears in the Settings app, and here users can configure and customize the Wi-Fi information page on their iPhone.

Options including “Show network encryption,” “Show network MAC Address,” and “Show exact signal strength” can all be enabled; further features, such as a passcode lock and a pull-to-refresh mechanism for the Settings app’s Wi-Fi management page, are also available.

In a recent article, iDownloadBlog explains:

One major feature that BetterWiFi7 offers is “Smart Passcode Lock” which if activated, disables the device’s passcode lock whenever a user is connected to a trusted network. Users can add a trusted network from the tweak’s preferences pane. The developer calls this feature “Smart” because the tweak compares a network’s MAC Address, which is unique for every network, rather than a its name or SSID.

Apple’s Wi-Fi management options on iOS might be user friendly to the point of being a little too basic, however if you feel this is the case, BetterWiFi7 is a jailbreak tweak you should consider taking for a spin.

Owners of the previous version of the package, BetterWiFi, can download the new release for $1.00. Otherwise BetterWiFi7 will set you back $1.50.
