How Many iPhones Did Apple Sell During The Third Quarter?

Is Apple set to announce another record quarter for iPhone shipments? Wells Fargo believes so, according to AppleInsider.
The company’s Maynard Um has forecasted that Apple sold 36.5 million iPhones between May and June. If correct, it would be Apple’s best June quarter to date, easily surpassing the 31.2 million units sold during the same period last year. The analyst says the addition of new iPhone carriers worldwide and special promotions are factors behind the projected numbers.
Since April, 16 new iPhone carriers have been added, bringing the worldwide total to 332 carrier partners. Additionally, the iPhone is now available in four new countries, including: Brunei, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, and Lebanon.
Um also thinks Apple may have earned $38.2 billion in revenue during the quarter, an estimate slightly higher than the $37.9 billion average expectation from Wall Street.
Beyond the iPhone, Um believes Apple sold 12 million iPads, 3.9 million Macs, and 1.9 million iPods during the quarter.
Last month, Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty told investors that “there is demand among consumers for 39 million iPhones units” for the three months ending June 28.
Cupertino will report the results of its third quarter on Monday, July 22. Notably, this call will be the first to be conducted under Luca Maestri, who succeeded Peter Oppenheimer as Apple’s new CFO a month ago.
