Delta Air Lines' free in-flight entertainment system for iOS devices takes off
August 1, 2014
Delta Air Lines has just launched Delta Studio, its new initiative that provides free in-flight entertainment to its passengers.
Available now on Delta's seat-back entertainment systems and on the newly updated Fly Delta app for iPhone and Fly Delta for iPad, Delta Studio offers free entertainment options on all of the American airline's domestic aircraft and two-cabin regional jets. These options include streaming access to hit movies like "The Hunger Games" and "Frozen" and popular TV shows from channels including HBO and Showtime.
Streaming entertainment is also available on Delta flights via the free Gogo Video Player app.
"Customers traveling on any domestic Delta or Delta Connection two-cabin aircraft equipped with Wi-Fi will be able to stream free movies and TV options directly to their mobile devices while in flight by using Gogo's video player app," Delta said in its announcement several days ago. "The Fly Delta app will include an integrated player for iOS devices. Customers who have downloaded the app before their flight can easily access streamed content from Delta aircraft for playback while in-flight."
The new versions of Fly Delta for iPhone and Fly Delta for iPad featuring Delta Studio are available now on the App Store for free.
Delta Studio comes about three months after United Airlines, one of Delta's main competitors, launched its own in-flight entertainment system for passengers with iOS devices.
