Report: Apple's thinner MacBook is coming in late 2014 or early 2015
DigiTimes might have a hit-and-miss track record when it comes to Apple-related predictions, however the Taiwan-based publication is now out with a new report claiming that a thinner MacBook is set to launch from Cupertino in either late 2014 or early 2015.
The news (via MacRumors) comes following sustained claims that a thinner MacBook Pro or Retina display-equipped MacBook Air (which may indeed be the same device) are incoming. We’ve also heard that the model could sport a 12-inch screen, rather than an 11- or 13-inch display.
Now, DigiTimes is claiming that production of components for the anticipated slimmer MacBook “has begun in small volumes, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.” The report indeed adds that the product should therefore launch either “at the end of 2014 or in 2015.”
Could it be that we hear more at one of Apple’s upcoming media events? As a reminder, a next-generation iPhone should be announced by Apple at a September event, while a couple of new iPads are expected to be unveiled in October.
With a bigger, 12.9-inch iPad also rumored to be on the cards, the line separating Apple’s desktop and mobile offerings looks set to be even further blurred in the near future. We’ll keep you updated with further information as we receive it.
