The design for the Apple Store Fifth Avenue is now patented

August 28, 2014

The glass cube design for Apple’s iconic Fifth Avenue store in Manhattan has been successfully patented. Among those credited as an inventor for the design is Steve Jobs, the late Apple co-founder, according to Patently Apple.

The Apple Store Fifth Avenue is located at 767 Fifth Avenue between 58th and 59th Streets, neighboring Central Park, FAO Schwarz, and Bergdorf Goodman. The store is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

When the store opened in 2006, Jobs said “we think the Apple Store Fifth Avenue is going to be a favorite destination for New Yorkers and people around the world.”

Apple applied for a trademark related to the Fifth Avenue location in 2010. That application is still pending.

Two years ago, Apple was granted a patent for the iconic glass cylinder design for the company’s Shanghai store.

Apple’s newest patent is No. D712,067.
