'Tinder for real estate' app Doorsteps Swipe goes 2.0 with rentals and other features
August 5, 2014
The Realtor.com-powered real estate app Doorsteps Swipe has just been updated to version 2.0 with a number of major improvements, just four months after its launch on iOS.
Doorsteps Swipe has earned itself a reputation as a sort of "Tinder for real estate." And it's actually a fitting label, considering that Doorsteps Swipe employs a "like or pass" approach similar to that of the popular matchmaking app. It shows you a photo and street address of a home, which you can thumbs-up and save if you like what you see or thumbs-down to pass.
As mentioned, Doorsteps Swipe has just been updated to version 2.0 with some notable improvements. Foremost among these is support for rentals, in addition to sales. As demoed in the promo video below, the app now lets you choose between For Sale and Rental modes when checking out homes.

Doorsteps Swipe 2.0 also lets you set your location search criteria by simply drawing boundaries on the map. Alternatively, you can let the app surprise you with its Surprise Me feature.
Moreover, the updated app adds a new map view in the Saved Swipes folder, allowing you to see all of your saved listings pinned on a map and swipe to move from pin to pin.
Doorsteps Swipe 2.0 also includes the following enhancements:
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 7.0 or later, Doorsteps Swipe 2.0 is available now on the App Store for free.
- More information on the listing details page, including home and rental amenities, pet policies for rentals, local school information, and upcoming open houses.
- A richer Summary with new categories including school and pet policy. Interact with stats to pull up saved listings right on the Summary screen.
- Share listings by SMS and Facebook. Listings shared with you will appear in a new Shared section in your Saved Swipes folder.
- Push notifications of new listings that match your last search criteria.
- An endless heap of UI enhancements.
- Major bug fix that addresses Saved Swipes disappearing.
