Apple's new iCloud storage plans now available starting at 20GB for $0.99 per month

September 11, 2014

Yesterday, Apple announced its updated pricing scheme for its iCloud storage plans. But it’s only today that the new subscription options for the company’s cloud storage service have gone live.

Now, you can already subscribe to any of Apple’s new monthly iCloud storage plans. The free tier remains available for up to 5GB. The premium tier starts at $0.99 per month for 20GB. Paid subscriptions are also available at $3.99 per month for 200GB, $9.99 per month for 500GB, and $19.99 per month for 1TB.

To subscribe to any of the new plans, open the Settings app on your iOS device, select the iCloud option, tap Storage & Backup, and choose Buy More Storage.

If you’re a current iCloud storage plan subscriber, your storage plan will be automatically upgraded with a corresponding prorated refund based on the reduced plan price and the remaining months on your subscription. You can also continue enjoying an annual plan, as opposed to the monthly plans now being offered. But if you opt to any of the new plans, you won’t be able to switch back to a yearly legacy plan.

Apple’s storage plan upgrades come ahead of the official launch of iCloud Drive, which allows users to sync various files of types across iOS, Mac and Windows devices.
