The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will ship with less available storage space than you'd expect

September 15, 2014

Each new 64GB or 128GB iPhone 6/iPhone 6 Plus will come with iLife and iWork iOS software from Apple preinstalled. This news is based on content from an internal Apple Retail training document, according to 9to5Mac.

The following apps will come preinstalled on the new iPhones: iMovie, GarageBand, Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and iTunes U. Those who purchase a 16GB iPhone 6/iPhone 6 Plus will be able to download each of these apps for free on the App Store, they just won’t come preinstalled.

Last year, Apple said that anyone buying a new iOS device would get these apps for free. This is the first time, however, the devices will come with the apps already installed.

I think this is a nice idea on Apple’s part. Still, I’m sure that a few users will be upset to see the lost real estate on their new handsets. Luckily, these apps can be manually deleted.

Preorders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are currently being accepted. The new handsets arrive in stores on Friday, Sept. 19.
