Yahoo News Digest goes universal for iPad with new Katie Couric video show
Yahoo News Digest has just gone universal.
Yahoo’s popular news summarization app was released last January for iPhone and iPod touch only. It had been available for iPad and iPad mini, of course, but sans optimizations for Apple’s tablets.
That is, until now, with the arrival of Yahoo News Digest’s universal update.
Indeed, Yahoo News Digest is now optimized for iPad and iPad mini as well as iPhone and iPod touch.
What’s more, the new universal version of Yahoo News Digest comes with several new features for iPad. Most notable of these is a new weekly video show hosted by Katie Couric, the former “The Today Show” host who’s now a global news anchor for Yahoo News. They also include extra news categories called Sections and customization of digest timings.

Yahoo News Digest essentially offers a combination of Yahoo News and Summly, the pioneering news summarization app acquired by Yahoo in March last year.
Summly was created by Nick D’Aloisio at the young age of 15. His and Summly’s story — and, by extension, Yahoo News Digest’s — is featured by Yahoo in this promo video:
