Love Badland and Limbo? Check out Gree's new El side-scrolling flying game
Gree, the popular developer behind hit iOS games including Batman & The Flash: Hero Run and Pac-Man Monsters, has just released a brand new game simply called El (stylized as “el.”).
In the game, you play as the presumed title character, who wakes up “in a forgotten prison” and “flies off in search of purpose” with the aid of a magical umbrella. El is essentially a flying game, but it’s by no means another Flappy Bird wannabe.
In each level of El, you have to hold on your iOS device’s screen to open your umbrella and float upwards, and swipe left and right to create wind force in either direction. Dodge obstacles and collect life-sustaining feathers to progress through the game’s enigmatic story.
El is quite reminiscent of such acclaimed games as Badland and Limbo in that it’s a story-driven and atmospheric side-scrolling adventure game with gorgeous visuals and relaxing sounds.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later, El is available now on the App Store for free, with no in-app purchases.
