FiftyThree's Pencil stylus is now available through Apple
FiftyThree’s Pencil stylus is now available through Apple. The accessory is available online and at Apple retail stores.
Introduced in November 2013, Pencil works with FiftyThree’s Paper app for iPad. Along with palm rejection, the accessory has a built-in eraser and unique Blend mode. Pencil is paired with the mobile device using Bluetooth 4.0.
Available in the United States, Canada, and parts of Europe, Pencil is offered in walnut ($59.99) or graphite ($49.99) versions. Pencil is also available through FiftyThree or Amazon.
In November, Paper was updated to version 2.1 with Adobe Creative Cloud integration for exporting drawings to Adobe’s cloud storage service and sending them straight to Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. It was also updated with push notifications for Mix activity, support for sharing directly from Mix, and a live camera view for profile photo uploading during Mix account creation.
In December, Paper was updated to version 2.2 with a couple of more improvements to its Mix platform. One, there’s support for global search, allowing you to find and follow anyone on Mix by name or email. And two, there’s support for adding Mix friends via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Contacts.
Pencil arrives at Apple just a day after well-regarded KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the long-rumored “iPad Pro” might launch with a stylus as an optional accessory. Pencil could fit that bill, no?
