Apple-only accessory maker Twelve South is on a roll. After unveiling a beautiful charging stand for the upcoming Apple Watch last week, the company has just announced another great companion for any MacBook.

The BaseLift is a thin microfiber pad that attaches to any MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, or even the new MacBook. While in the flat position, it can help protect your lap from heat or cold.

But when you need a stand, simply fold up the pad like Apple’s Smart Cover for the iPad.

Here’s a quick video that shows the product in action. Click here if you can’t see it.

Weighing in at just 4.2 ounces, the BaseLift can easily be removed from your MacBook when needed and doesn’t leave any sticky residue behind.

The BaseLift is available in red and can be purchased from the company’s site now for $39.99.

While I’ve never previously been interested in using a stand for my MacBook Pro, the BaseLift’s portability is really intriguing. I’m looking forward to trying it out soon.

If you’re looking for a stationary option, Twelve South also recently introduced the ParcSlope for a MacBook. That stand will set you back $49.99.
