Things lets you manage your tasks on Apple Watch with ease

Award-winning to-do app Things for iPhone has recently been updated, and this version is all about Apple Watch. The developer of Things, Cultured Code, has devoted hours of planning and programming into its Apple Watch companion. In a blog post announcing the launch of Things for Apple Watch, Cultured Code expressed its thoughts on how intertwined developers are in the success of Cupertino’s smartwatch.

With the Watch, Apple is entering a new device category: wrist-worn computers. Much like with the iPad before, in order for the Watch to be useful, it needs to do some things better than our existing devices. This burden is not on Apple alone—we as developers need to strive to find good answers for our apps as well. What exactly is the watch better at? Which interactions would be great, and which wouldn’t?

In answering those questions, Cultured Code has developed an Apple Watch companion that should be both beautiful and easy to use. Things for Apple Watch takes advantage of the smartwatch’s Glances to display your to-do list. From there, you can tap to open the main app and mark your tasks complete as you finish them. Tapping on a to-do will show you all of its relevant information, including the title, the project it belongs to, its notes, and its due date.

Entering new tasks into Things is equally easy. You just press and hold the digital crown or say “Hey Siri, remember to review the slides for tomorrow’s presentation.” This sends the new to-do to the inbox in Things, where you can process it later. You can also tap the + button from inside the app to dictate your task. You can focus on to-dos in specific projects, get notified daily of tasks that have become due, track your progress throughout the day, and more.
