Up Next lets Siri set reminders on Apple Watch

Getting Stuff Done

One of the most notable apps missing from Apple Watch is Reminders. It seems odd that Apple has left out such an important iOS app from its smartwatch, but there you have it. For those of us who rely on Reminders to keep us on track with our work day, the recently updated Up Next should be able to fill that role.

We’ve featured Up Next in the past, and Christine Chan found it “a slick little app for helping you get your priorities straight.” The app was already available for Apple Watch as of version 2.1, but the recent update to 2.1.1 makes Up Next even easier to use. Whereas most of the current generation of to do list apps for Apple Watch require a complex procedure to add tasks by voice dictation, Up Next can now enter new items handsfree without even being launched.

To add a new task, simply raise your Apple Watch, iPhone, or iPad, and say, “Hey Siri, remind me to …” On the iPhone and iPad, of course, this creates a new task in Reminders, but Up Next pulls in all of those entries. On Apple Watch, telling Siri to remind you of something will add that task directly into Up Next.

The update also allows you to view lists from Up Next and Reminders on Apple Watch, and the new version fixes a bug related to recurring tasks. Up Next is available now for $4.99 on the App Store. According to the developer, Up Next will be on sale for $1.99 from April 24 through April 27.
