Djee Games, the indie developer behind a couple of App Store titles, has unveiled a brand new application for Apple’s iOS. Called Planet Lander, it’s available to download free of charge now, and it’s optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Promising to reinvent the “Lander” genre, Planet Lander offers iOS device owners a classic gaming environment combined with more unique features, like different planets with variable gravity, dangerous hazards, and more. It features some 60 levels, and each one includes three separate goals to achieve. Moreover, stars and gems can be earned in each round, allowing iOS device owners to progress through collecting bounty in the game.

In the app’s release notes, the developer continues:

Planet Lander is a new game on mobile platforms that reinvents the “Lander” genre, taking the classic gameplay and adding exciting new features like different planet environments with variable gravity and hazards to avoid at all costs! Explore 60 levels with 3 goals to achieve for each level. Earn stars and gems to advance through the game! You can acquire up to 5 space modules, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. With all these features combined in a complete game package, Planet Lander can be fun to play as a quick time-killer or enjoyed as a long-term gaming enthusiast.

The app also features retro graphics, as well as fun sound effects and exciting bonuses. Planet Lander includes support for a range of languages, too. Here’s a video showing the game in action:

I don’t know about you, but this brings back a lot of memories for me.

Planet Lander can be downloaded now on the App Store, and it’s available free of charge. For a taste of “lander” nostalgia, download the application now; it’s optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
