Flickr brings back Pro badge and more with new paid plan

Popular photo sharing service Flickr announced the relaunch of its paid subscription plans, both for existing and new members. According to Petapixel, this change comes after “a high amount of requests” from Flickr members. The new Flickr Pro plan will be much like the paid membership from earlier in the photo sharing service’s history, but with improvements. You might recall that Flickr barely lost to Apple’s Photos app in one of our App Smackdowns, but we recommended taking a look if you take tons of photos and videos and are worried about space on your iPhone or iPad.

The Pro badge is back

We may not need badges, but they are nice. Flickr will give paid members the Pro badge in places where their username shows up in the service.

No ads and better stats

Flickr Pro will get you an ad-free experience, whether you’re looking at your own photos or someone else’s. The new subscription plan also offers “new and improved stats,” and provides an improved navigation system for looking up the data on your photos. You can quickly see how many times your photos have been viewed, along with the number of images in your collection and other statistics.

Discounts

For yearly subscribers, Flickr Pro offers a 20 percent discount on Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan. They also get free standard United States shipping on merchandise. Non-U.S. customers can benefit from 50 percent off international shipping with their Flickr Pro subscription.

About the new plan

Flickr Pro is priced at $5.99 per month, or $49.99 annually. Users with existing Pro or Ad-Free accounts will be automatically upgraded to the new plan with no change in price or renewal date. If you would like more information, you can visit Flickr’s upgrade page to find out more. Flickr for your iPhone or iPad is a free download on the App Store.
