Etsy for iOS now alerts you when 'local' sellers are nearby
Etsy’s free, universal iOS app is now better than ever thanks to the availability of a brand new feature: Etsy Local.
You can access Etsy Local from inside the updated Etsy application (version 4.19, which reached the App Store on Aug. 20), and upon launching the updated app, you’ll spy an in-app notification for the new feature at the top of the screen. Tapping this notification will prompt you to enable Etsy Local, and from here, you’ll be able to enjoy using the feature on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
But what does Etsy Local bring?
Well, as its name suggests, the feature is designed to connect users of Etsy, the online marketplace for handmade, unique creations, with nearby sellers. These sellers might exhibit their work from a permanent location, or it could be that they’re exhibiting as part of a limited-time event. Either way, Etsy for iOS will list the sellers geographically, it’ll provide information on locations, and, most usefully, the app will offer the dates of availability (if you’re indeed dealing with an event, rather than a retailer).
You can browse Etsy Local either using a full-screen map, or in a list view (with the latter being easier to digest while offering more at-a-glance information). You’ll also be able to check preview pictures of the items nearby sellers will be retailing, as well as the number of Etsy sellers which will be exhibiting at the event or location in question.
All of this means that Etsy’s iOS app is now all the more pleasant to use.
You can download Etsy on the App Store free of charge, and it’s optimized for the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and the Apple Watch. It weighs-in at 49.6 MB and requires iOS 7.0 or above.
