Find the right roomie for you with Yoroomie for iOS

Seeking out roommates has never been easier, thanks to a brand new (and well-named) iOS app called Yoroomie.

You can download the app free of charge now, and it’s optimized for the iPhone and iPod touch. Once running on your handset, Yoroomie allows users to perform a search of a specific area for a potential new roommate. The app provides a breakdown of all the key information you’ll need to know, including property information such as the monthly rent, the number of bedrooms and baths, the type of property, and its availability.

From here, Yoroomie lets iOS device owners connect with one another using its safe, secure in-app instant messaging (IM) service. You can fire off messages to would-be roomies in order to check if you’re a compatible match, and, if so, to arrange a face-to-face meet-up.

Really, that’s all there is to Yoroomie, but at the same time this is all you’d expect from the app. It works well and looks great, the user interface (UI) is easy enough to navigate, and users can even sign-in with a Facebook account for convenience. In order to run the app, you’ll need iOS 7.0 or above (which should be no problem for most of our readers), though unfortunately Yoroomie isn’t yet optimized for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

More promisingly, though, an update reached the app earlier this month adding the option of sending the folks behind Yoroomie a direct message (DM), alongside additional sharing options.

In essence, Yoroomie does one job, and it does it (mostly) well. Lack of optimization for Apple’s latest handsets is annoying to see for an app that’s continuing to be actively developed, but this is something we’re hoping to see reach Yoroomie sooner rather than later.
