The Product

While I’ve used pretty much every type of case possible for my iPhone 6 Plus, I’ve never really understood the draw of a wallet folio. The idea of carrying my credit cards, cash, and other important information right along with my iPhone never made a lot of sense. I’m definitely too old-school and usually insist on carrying my normal wallet everywhere.

But my stance recently changed after I lost my wallet, not once, but twice in the span of a few weeks. Once I left it at a local restaurant, and thankfully a good samaritan turned it in to management. In the other incident, my wallet somehow made it into the deepest depths of my Jeep and had to be fished out two frustrating days later.

So when DODOCase offered the chance to try out its latest iPhone 6 Plus case, which just happened to be a wallet, I jumped at the offer.

We’ve covered a number of DODOCase products before, and I’ve always come away impressed. Each item is handmade in San Francisco with high-quality materials. They’re probably most well-known for the signature iPad case that protects the tablet with classic bookbinding materials. But the company also offers other accessories for the iPhone and Apple Watch.

There are three different color combinations available for buyers.

The Lorna iPhone Wallet Case is named after one of the company’s craftswomen, and just like its other products, is beautiful and stylish. The exterior is covered with Pergamena leather that is soft and luxurious to the touch. You can select from three different color combinations. I took a look at the option with a blue exterior, but a red and brown edition are also available to purchase.

After opening the wallet, you’ll see the wallet portion of the case on the left with the a special plastic tray for the iPhone on the right. Most of the interior is made with soft book cloth material that DODOCase says is easy to clean.

On the iPhone 6 Plus version, there are four different pockets that can hold a maximum of two cards each. A larger pocket below those can hold cash and other items like business cards or your driver’s license. The iPhone 6 edition of the case has just three card slots.

All of the slots are easy to open and hold my cards firmly. I’ve never worried about anything slipping out. And to make its contents even more secure, you can also use the elastic band closure to help keep the entire wallet shut when in a pocket or bag.

On the right, you can insert the iPhone quickly and easily. All of the iPhone’s buttons and ports, including the camera hole, are accessible.

Even with cards and cash, the case doesn’t add a lot of bulk to the large handset.

Along with the great craftsmanship, my favorite feature of the case is its slim design. Even completely full with cash and credit cards, the Lorna doesn’t add a significant amount of bulk to the already hefty handset. It’s so slim in fact, I’ve still been able to comfortably fit it in the front pocket of my pants while out and about.

The only downside of the case I can find is its price, which is in the neighborhood of $10 to $20 more than similar competitors like Twelve South’s BookBook for Apple’s largest handset. But after using the case, it’s definitely worth the extra cost and highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and stylish wallet option.

As for me, while I haven’t completely sworn off my usual wallet, I’ve enjoyed the Lorna enough to think that it may become my full-time way to carry iPhone, credit cards, and cash sooner rather than later.
