Apple's Software

Apple Maps is the iOS app that keeps on getting better and better. After an admittedly rocky start, the application has gained new features (and stability improvements) left, right, and center. This has continued most recently with the addition of flyover support for a handful of cities from countries around the world.

You can now fly to Budapest, Hungry, or Rotterdam, Netherlands. How about a trip to the beautiful, scenic Nice, France, or Gothenburg, Sweden? All of this (and more) can be enjoyed from an iOS device in the recently revamped Maps application. And best of all, you don’t need to wait for an appointment with the local travel agents. Here’s the full list of brand new flyover destinations (via MacRumors). As you can see, it’s a great selection of new towns and cities:

  • Graz, Austria
  • Aarhus, Denmark
  • Rotterdam, Netherlands
  • Bobbio, Italy
  • Turin, Italy
  • Budapest, Hungary
  • Cádiz, Spain
  • Chenonxeaux, France
  • Dijon, France
  • Millau, France
  • Nice, France
  • Strasbourg, France
  • Omaha Beach
  • Ensenada, Mexico
  • Loreto, Mexico
  • Gothenburg, Sweden
  • Malmö, Sweden
  • Mayagüez, Puerto Rico
  • Sapporo, Japan
  • Rapid City, SD

In iOS 9, Maps is getting even better. This is because Apple is adding support for public transport updates to the free, built-in application (for select U.S. towns and cities, at least go begin with).

The app first launched on iOS in 2012, with iOS 6; before this, Google Maps was the mapping software offered by Apple’s iOS devices. Now, Google Maps is available as a standalone application on the App Store.

Head over to the iOS Maps app and start your flyover of the above cities now. We’ll keep you updated as further improvements to the application launch on iOS.
