If you are a Flickr fan, uploading, organizing, and sharing your awesome photos with the world, then today might be quite a notable day for you. Version 4.0.6 of Flickr was released today, Nov. 5, bringing terrific features for newer iPhone owners and support for iOS 9.

3D Touch features

For those who are enjoying the iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus, you will now be able to use the handy 3D Touch features with Flickr on your device. You can easily preview photos, notifications, and people with just a light press to your screen. There are also shortcuts you can access by pressing down on the app icon.

In addition, there are extended 3D Touch features for your camera roll. You can now press to preview a photo, slide your finger from side to side to see other pictures, and then long-press to open a photo in full screen mode.

Additional updates

Along with the cool new 3D Touch features comes Spotlight Search, so you can check out your albums, groups, and recently-viewed items quickly. Flickr now offers universal links too which means they will open directly within the app instead of directing you to Safari.

Welcome enhancements

These are great, long-awaited updates for many who use Flickr on a regular basis, especially for those who tote the newest iPhone. Easier ways to preview photos, search for items, and stay within the app when clicking a link are all terrific additions.

Flickr is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and available for free on the App Store.
